Hoses and Their Uses

Most people are familiar with what a hose does, how it looks like and what it does. Generally a hose is a flexible hollow tube that is manufactured to transfer a liquid from one area to another area. Hoses may sometimes be referred to as a pipe, as that term describes a hard straight tube. However the real distinctions between a hose and a pipe is that the former is generally more flexible and the shape of it is often like a circular cross or more circular. Here at AOG Purchasing, we carry many different types of hoses and hose parts. If you’d like to learn a little more about hoses, read the article below.

The shape, look and make of a hose is reliant upon the performance and use of the use. Some characteristics that are popular and appear across many different types of hoses include sizing, weight, pressure rating, length, weight, coilhose, straight hose, and chemical compatibility. Some common uses for hoses include nylon, polyurethane, polyethylene, PVC, or synthetic or natural rubbers, based on the environment and pressure rating needed. You might notice in more recent years, hoses have been produced from special grades of polyethylene, of either the LDPE or LLDPE variety, while other hose materials have incorporated PTFE, also known as teflon, metals, and stainless steel.

There are different types of hoses. You might see some across the market that include armoured rubber hose, which are heavy and often utilized for suction and discharge of the dewatering slurry. Armored rubber hoses are typically useful for this and made distinct by its flange located at both ends. In addition to this type of hose, there is also the stainless steel corrugated hose pipe which often is used with various bore sizes and lengths. They also have a wide range of end connections and are manufactured in such a way that it can connect with the technical specifications of all the consumers.

Corrugated hose pipes can be utilized both with or without braiding of the stainless steel wire. The outer shell of this wire has a corrugated metal hose (hence the name). Pressure here is applied from an unbraided hose. Along with an outer layer, the corrugated hose pipes may have two or three additional layers of braid that can be used for high pressure applications. This is advantageous because it can be very malleable and permissible to flexible movement of the hose.

Rubber hoses can be utilized for various different purposes in the home, as well as in vehicles and in many different industries. It is useful because it is the most flexible material that can permit movement of liquids and gases. Rubber hoses can be bought in many different sizes and strength but are in need of couplings as well as other attachments that are made up of metals or plastics. These attachments must be made for uniting machines, devices, any other hose and spigots. Rubber hoses are built from natural latex or synthetic rubber and as a result are more desirable in the market than the hose types. This is also because it offers superior elasticity that can endure high pressure and temperatures. Not only that but they are opaque and can be bought in many bright colours that take up less energy than any other synthetic materials.
